Brands We're Loving: Tori Richard
April 23, 2019
Say Aloha to our new Tori Richard concept shop! Our Manasquan location has undergone a major revamp – think palm trees, pineapples and pops of color! The front section has been completely redesigned, bringing the tropics of Hawaii right to the Jersey Shore. We like to say it’s a store within a store.
Tori Richard is a men and women’s resort wear company based in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1953, Chicago Mort Feldman, a successful apparel manufacturer in Chicago, moved to Hawai'i for retirement. Mr. Feldman quickly realized retirement didn't suit him, so he, his soon-to-be wife, Janice Moody, and pattern maker Mitsue Aka, founded Tori Richard, Ltd. The company was named after Mort's son, Richard, and Janice's daughter, Victoria. Although originally founded to bring sophistication to women’s resort wear, the brand was such a hit that men’s wear was soon introduced.
Tori Richard Fun Facts:
Mort Feldman established “Aloha Friday,” a state-sanctioned
practice to wear Aloha attire to work every Friday.
Tori Richard was named “Resort Retailer of the Year” in 2006 by
Retail Merchants Hawaii.
George Clooney, Jimmy Buffett and Barack Obama have all
sported men’s Aloha shirts!
The company’s solar-panel system offsets 100% of its carbon
footprint at its headquarters.
Today, Tori Richard is recognized for its Japanese-inspired prints and exclusive Cotton Lawn fabric. All products are proudly cut and sewn at its Honolulu, Hawaii headquarters. Super-soft fabrics and flattering silhouettes make these garments versatile, all-day wears. Check out our favorite Tori Richard picks below and visit our concept shop for even more!
